The Turkish cuisine, based on the country’s
natural abundance and diversity of
resources, is worthy of exploration if you
travel to engage in culinary pursuits.
Whether served in modest home or famous
restaurant, similar patterns of this rich and
varied cuisine are always present.
In Turkey alcohol consumption is not
prohibited.
The traditional alcoholic drink is Rakı, which
is clear brandy made from grapes and
raisins, flavored with pungent anise and
diluted with water.
There are around 50 wineries in
Turkey in different regions which
produce local wines and the
most famous are Öküzgözü,
Boğazkere, Narince and Kalecik
Karası.
When one talks about the Turkish
cuisine, the term should be understood
as the totality of foods and beverages,
the ways of preparing and preserving
these as well as the techniques,
equipment and utensils required.
